After a successful run on the USA Network, it appeared “The Sinner” a crime drama starring Hornell’s Bill Pullman, would be over when the final episode aired in December.

However, the four season series, which started in 2017, was picked up by Netflix and now has fans asking for a Season 5.

Writer Liz Kocan of The Decider listed The Sinner as one of the “Best Crime Drama’s on Netflix” to watch in her latest reviews that came our on Tuesday.

Pullman was nominated for a Best Actor award, the series was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. Jessica Beil and Pullman received three nominations from major award shows for their work over the 32 episodes.

The show has already out-lasted expectation. It was originally going to be an eight-part series but it turned into four seasons.

Pullman stars as detective Harry Ambrose and Beil stars as Cora Tannetti. Ambrose starts the series trying to determine why Tannetti stabbed a man to death.

The sinner was created by Executive Producer Derek Simonds and Pullman is the only actor in all four seasons. Simonds said he, “Loves the idea of working with Bill again.”

In November, Simonds crushed fans when he said, “A huge thank you to my partner-in-crime, Bill Pullman, and to the talented actors, writers, directors, and crew who gave their all to help realize this show. It’s been an incredible journey.”

However, the door might not be closed.

Pullman solves many cases and each season the show has new twists and turns. In the third season, Pullman filmed in Hudson Valley. That case, involving a fatal accident, caused another story and twist that kept viewers through season four.

With the show trending on Netflix and developing a following in Europe, critics are asking for the series to continue, and Simonds did give fans a glimmer of hope during an interview with TV Line.

Simonds liked how Pullman’s character ended Season 4 (Netflix currently has the first three seasons) and he describes a fifth season as possibly fun.

“I could definitely see revisiting the show,” Simonds said. “I think that would be a fun experience, after some time, to revisit the character. I will say this: Right now, I don’t know what else to say with Ambrose.

“I feel like if there were more seasons consecutively following this one, we’d be in danger of repeating ourselves with diminishing returns,” he continued. “But I love the idea of working with Bill again, and revisiting this world that I’ve lived in for the past five years and have really cherished, so I’m always open to that.”
