HORNELL — The Hornell Red Raiders boys’ basketball team is getting into post-season form and the student section and band in the Seneca Street Zoo were just as hot on Wednesday night.
With the fun atmosphere in the stands, seven different Red Raiders hit 3-pointers, 17 in all as Hornell stopped CG Finney, 77-57.
Shawn Rose started the incredible shooting by hitting four 3-pointers in the first quarter as Hornell raced out to a 33-17 lead.
Christian Babcock nailed three 3-pointers of his own in the opening frame.
With Finney hitting 11 3-pointers, 29 total were made on Wednesday.
It’s no wonder Hornell shot just three free throws and 11 were taken by both teams, it’s hard to foul when the ball is going through the net moments after crossing half-court!
Rose had a team-high 19 points as 12 Hornell players made the scoring boxscore. Gennaro Picco scored 16 with four 3-pointers, Christian Babcocl had 11 points and three 3-pointers while Griffyn Baker had 10 points.
Deigo Bessette had a game-high 23 for Finney and hit seven 3-pointers.
