Canisteo-Greenwood girls fall in sectionals, view gallery

The Canisteo-Greenwood girls had an outstanding season, but had a rough outing in sectionals, as they fell to #7 Alexander, 50-44 on Saturday in Class C1.

“The girls played a great defensive game,” Alexander head coach Marcia Hirsch told the Batavia Daily News, noting that her Lady Trojans won the battle on the boards by a 47-28 margin.

Natalie Whitmore led Alexander with 18 points and 13 rebounds while Melanie Pohl had 10 points and six caroms. Alexander (13-9) will take on No. 6 Addison Wednesday at Canandaigua.

For Canisteo-Greenwood, the #2 team, they finish 15-6.

Lillian Mullen scored a game-high 23 points with seven rebounds, five steals and two assists for C-G while Peyton Peters (two assists, two steals) and Bailey Mullen (six rebounds) each had eight and Brooke Burd (five rebounds) had five.
