Cases are starting to increase across New York and in Steuben County

NYSDOH – New York State Health Department released information last night with the recommendations seen in the graphic below from, https://health.ny.gov/…/2022/2022-04-13_covid-19.htm

Our last update for Steuben was on Monday. We reported a 3.4% seven day average positivity rate. It’s now up to 4.2%. Now is the best time to get fully vaccinated and boosted (or double boosted if eligible), in case and before cases surge. It is recommended to consider wearing a mask when indoors in public spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

Test, test, test: After any exposure, if you have symptoms, and after travelling. Free rapid tests are available through local municipalities and libraries or can be ordered at https://www.covid.gov/tests. If using a rapid test, it’s a good idea to test over several days if initially negative. For example, if you test too soon after an exposure and do not test again, you could become positive without knowing it and have the potential to spread the virus.

If you test positive, follow the steps found here: https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/new-york-state-contact…

Steuben residents can report positive home tests to us at https://www.steubencountyny.gov/publichealth. Those who test positive or are a contact to a positive can also get their isolation or quarantine orders at that link.
