Sheriff Jim Allard announces arrests for family violence, promoting prison contraband

April 17, 2022, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bradley A. Meise, age 28, of Russell Street, Canisteo, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Meise caused physical injury to a member of his family or household and did so in the presence of a person under the age of 17 years in Canisteo. Mr. Meise was charged with Assault in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Mr. Meise was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

April 24, 2022, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nessadena A. Ortiz, age 40, of Seneca Road, Hornell, New York. It is alleged that Ms. Ortiz caused physical injury to a member of her family or household while using a weapon. It is further alleged that this happened in the presence of a child under the age of 17. Ms. Ortiz was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms. Ortiz was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

April 25, 2022, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested David T. Shepherd, age 46, of Slate Creek Road, Canisteo, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Shepherd entered the secure area of the Steuben County Jail while possessing a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Mr. Shepherd was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a class D Felony. Mr. Shepherd was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
