Steamers beat the Rapids 11-2

The Hornell Steamers earned a 11-2 victory over the Genesee Rapids as they wrapped up a nine-game week. The Steamers are now 8-7 on the year.

Hornell got on the board in the 3rd when Bryson Rigsby (Webster) scored on an error. Rigsby made it 2-0 with a RBI single in the 5th and Colton Burd (Indiana U of PA) followed with a sac fly.

The Steamers put the game out of reach with a six run 6th inning. BJ Arnold (Mercyhurst) collected a RBI double, Paxton Hughes (Trevecca Nazarene) hit a RBI single and two more runs scored on a fielding error, and Burd followed with a two-run double to make it 9-0.

Genesee scored their only runs of the game in the bottom half of the inning but Hornell added two insurance runs in the 9th on a RBI single by Joel Hernandez (Webber International) and RBI double by Hughes.

Braden Consaul (Fairport/USC Upstate) earned the victory with 5.1 innings of three hit baseball. Four relievers, Zach Morse (Alfred State), Joe Dolansky (Indiana U of PA), Roland Ryan (Trevecca Nazarene), and Brody Burdett (Alfred State) allowed just three hits and one walk in 3.2 innings.

Hughes was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI while Burdett was 3 for 5. Jack Loftus (Western New England) was 2 for 3 as the Steamers collected 13 hits on the day.

 After a well deserved day off on Monday, Hornell travels to Sherrill for a 2 p.m. doubleheader with the Silversmiths.
