Not a drought, but “abnormally dry” across the region

While no drought conditions exist in New York, portions of Allegany and Steuben counties are listed as “Abnormally dry). The dry swath extends to the western Finger Lakes and Rochester area. As of Friday morning, the Genesee River at Wellsville was a meager four feet and dropping. Dry conditions also extend into Potter County, PA.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a Free Fishing Weekend in New York State on June 25 and 26. This event marks two of the state’s six Free Fishing Days offered every year to increase fishing participation and awareness of the outstanding fishing opportunities in New York and introduce new anglers to the sport of fishing.
