Happening this week: Gathering of the Artist at the Austin Dam

Ever popular “The Buddahood” will play headline show on Saturday July 23

“The Woodshed Prophet” and 27 other bands set to perform

The Historic Austin Dam in Austin Pennsylvania, just a short drive from Wellsville, Hornell, and the surrounding areas, is the site of this week’s Gathering of the Artist’s. Starting today, several national and international chainsaw carving artists including International Champion Pat Holbert descend on the Memorial site of the 1911 Austin Dam failure that killed 78 people. 

The brainchild of Shawn Ahearn, the gathering is a celebration of art, music, and family togetherness. Several carving demonstrations will be going on daily throughout the week including several rounds of speed carving. Cumulating on Sunday with a huge auction benefitting the Austin Dam Memorial Park with items donated by the artists. Other attractions include over 27 bands and solo acoustic acts ranging from country to the Funkadelic sounds of Rochester’s own The Buddhahood and hometown names such as the Dan and Gavin Hardy, Danial Dunham and Ed Gliha of The Woodshed Prophets!  

This event is open to the public throughout the day with free admission till Thursday at noon when there will be a charge for single day passes, or weekend passes. This is a family orientated event with food and beverage available. Tickets can be purchased online through the Gathering website: www.gatheringoftheartistfestival.com or in person at the gate!
