Public hearing will discuss the future of 85 Canisteo Street

There will be a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, at 82 Main Street.  This public hearing will be to solicit comment on the property asset list for the City of Hornell’s Restore New York Communities Initiative.  Property on the list is 85 Canisteo Street.

The Hornell Sun asked Heather Reynolds, Director of the City of Hornell Planning Office for a little more information on 85 Canisteo Street:

“The City of Hornell may potentially be writing a Restore NY grant (administered by Empire State Development) on behalf of the owner.  The sale of the property isn’t closed yet, so there is a lot of uncertainty.  Hopefully the new owner will be able to clarify a lot of our questions at the hearing.  Examples of previous Restore NY grant successes include the Federation Building, and most recently the Rockland Silk Mill project. “
