The last day to purchase tickets for the Alfred State College 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Tribute Car sweepstakes is Oct. 22. The car was donated by longtime supporter of the college Bob Couse ’74.

Less than seven hundred original Trans Am Firebirds were produced. The 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was first introduced in March 1969. Trans Am was a shorter term for an optional Trans Am Performance and Appearance Package. Cars with this option were white with blue racing stripes. The hood had air vents that could be closed by the driver and fender scoops covered holes designed to vent the engine. The Alfred State College AACA classic car club is transforming a stock V-8 Firebird into an accurate copy of the original Trans Am.

The fundraiser will support the non-profit Alfred State College Development Fund, Inc. and more specifically the Automotive Trades Program. This sweepstake will help fulfill the mission of providing unique educational experiences to automotive students at the college.

The winner of this beautiful American icon will be drawn on Oct. 31.
