Steuben County Sheriff and City of Corning Police make arrest after car chase

Multiple Charges/Fleeing Police Arrest

City of Corning Police Chief Kenzie Spaulding and Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard report that on October 27, 2022, City of Corning Police Officers and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Thomas R. Whitehead, age 40, of East Third Street, Corning, New York following a joint investigation of alleged violations of an order of protection in Corning, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Whitehead violated a duly served order of protection and then attempted to elude police and resist his lawful arrest. It is further alleged that in the Town of Bath, Mr. Whitehead operated a motor vehicle in an attempt to flee the police, failed to stop for police, acted in a reckless manner and subsequently resisted arrest when stopped. Mr. Whitehead was charged with four counts of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a Class D Felony by the City of Corning Police and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, Resisting Arrest, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Vehicle in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Reckless Driving by the Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Whitehead was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and held due to Felony Offenses.
