The Canisteo Police Department is thrilled to announce that our own Canisteo Village Police Chief Kyle C. Amidon was recently nominated and selected to attend Session 285 of the FBI National Law Enforcement Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Chief Amidon will be attending this training from January to March 2023 and it is an honor to be 1 of 235 candidates selected to attend from across the United States. This is a great honor and opportunity as only a handful of candidates from the Southern Tier have attended this academy in the past. For more information on the FBI National Law Enforcement Academy visit their website at:

The Village of Canisteo has generously approved Chief Amidon to attend this training academy as part of his job to continue to enhance his leadership skills and his overall performance, in areas such as Critical Incident Management, Officer Wellness, Preventing Targeted Violence, Community Policing initiatives just to name a few. This will allow Chief Amidon to better serve the Canisteo Village Police Department and the residents of the Village of Canisteo. This opportunity is once in a lifetime and not part of any job offers to move on to the FBI by any means.

Congratulations again to Police Chief Kyle C. Amidon on his upcoming training academy.
