NYS Police tackle dangerous roads, Bolivar NY police nab suspected drug dealer

It was a long and busy day for New York State Police Thursday as snow, sleet and freezing rain caused 55 vehicle crashes across the region, mainly in Allegany and Steuben counties. Of those crashes, at least six resulted in personal injury in Bolivar, Friendship, Cohocton, Avoca, Erwin and Bath. There were no indications from Troopers that any of the injuries were critical in nature. Some spots had a quarter of an inch of ice. The National Weather Service in Buffalo said Whitesville recorded 2.2” of snow. The Weather Service in Binghamton said Hornell received around an inch of snow, as did Bath. (These measurements were as of 11:59 p.m. Thursday). A special thanks is also extended to highway workers (state, county and local) as well as the numerous fire departments, EMS agencies and hospitals that assisted. It should also be noted that several municipal police agencies also had their hands full responding to accidents in their jurisdictions. 

State Police arrested a 26-year-old man from Scio, charging him with criminal possession of stolen property. The charge is the result of a complaint filed in the Village of Wellsville on September 12, 2022. The man was released on an appearance ticket for court.

Amity-based State Police Thursday night arrested Crista Wigent, 41, of Scio. She was charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief. Court action is pending.

An incident in the Town of Friendship ended with the arrest at 11:13 p.m. Thursday of a 30-year-old man from Friendship. He was charged with first-offense driving while intoxicated.

After receiving a child abuse complaint, Troopers in Steuben County arrested a 33-year-old Bath man, charging him with three counts of child endangerment. He was initially detained.

Bolivar NY Police

On December 16 at about 1:21pm, Bolivar Police arrested Steffan J. Sisson (03-29-1990) 32 of Ceres for three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance B Felony.

Which stem from a complaint where he was in possession of 18 bundles of heroin, 2 small baggies of meth, as well as a small bag of cocaine he was arraigned in Bolivar Village Court and was remanded to the Allegany County Court on a Pennsylvania extradition warrant with no bail. He is set to appear back in Village court at a later date.
