State Police arrest an Addison resident for Rape 1st Degree, Deputies file charges in jail assault
All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court
NYS Police Troop E report:
The New York State Police out of the Horseheads Barracks arrested Chevis G. Sargent, age 26, from Addison, NY for Rape 1st, Degree, a Class B Felony, after an investigation into a sexual assault which occurred in the town of Horseheads on January 23, 2023.
Sargent was arraigned in the Town of Horseheads Court where he was remanded to the Chemung County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond pending further court proceedings.
A Cohocton duo were arrested in Avoca on January 25th, both for two counts of Endangering the Welfare of Child. Emma C Miller, age 23, was charged with felony Falsifying Business Records and also a misdemeanor charge of Obstructing Governmental Administration. Both were held.
In the town of Urbana on January 26th, Benjamin A Crout, age 38 of Urbana was arrested for felony possession of a sexual performance by a child. Crout was held.

January 27, 2023 Assault Arrest
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on January 24, 2023, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Eric W. Graham, age 31, of Bath, New York, following an investigation into a reported fight between inmates at the Steuben County Jail. It is alleged that Mr. Graham, an inmate, intentionally injured another person who was also incarcerated. Mr. Graham was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony. Mr. Graham was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and returned to the jail.
