Elaina Flaitz competed at the New York State Track and Field Championships at Ocean Breeze on Saturday.
Elaina finished in a tie for 10th (but placed 11th based on attempts) out of 31 of the state’s best jumpers clearing 5-2, just narrowly missing 5-3.
“Lainey was relaxed and jumped well at the meet. She was seeded 15th, so she moved up several spots. 5-4 would have put her on the medal platform, but overall it was a great finish to her senior Indoor Season.”
Elaina is the youngest of three sisters to have competed at the Indoor State Meet. Anna competed in the 300m in 2017 and Emma ran 600m the in the Inter-Sectional Relay in 2019. And like her sisters, Elaina is SUNY Geneseo bound next Fall and will compete for Knights next season.
But Lainey has one more outdoor season with the Lady Raiders. “She is the defending Section V, Class B1 Champion in the 400m Intermediate Hurdles and the High Jump, and has her sights set on a return to the NYSPHAA Outdoor Meet in both the Hurdles (6th place in 2022) and the High Jump.”
