Telena M. Brownell, 91, lifelong Hornell resident

HORNELL: Telena M. Brownell, 91, formerly of Hornell, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 11, 2023, at the Homestead Nursing Facility in Penn Yan.

 Telena was born March 22, 1932 in Hornell to the late Frank and Josephine (Yarcone) Fenti. On October 3,1 953 in Hornell, she married Allen R. “Bucky” Brownell who predeceased her on November 27, 2014.

 She was a life-long resident of the Hornell area, where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Women of the Moose #620 and was an avid bowler in many area bowling leagues. Telena loved her pets and was an animal lover, and was an avid book reader.

 Telena is survived by a daughter Kathy (Patrick) Norton of Leesburg, FL., three sons, Ronald (Cindy) Brownell of Arkport, David (Colleen) Brownell of Hornell and Steven Brownell of Hornell, four grandchildren, Erin (Louis) Paone, Elaina Brownell, Timothy (Anja) Brownell and Shawn Norton, four great grandchildren, Jackson and Austin Norton, Jaden Brownell and Henry Paone. She is also survived by a brother Amilio Fenti of Canisteo and a sister Deborah Olds of Hornell.

 In addition to her parents Frank and Josephine Fenti and husband Allen “Bucky” Brownell, she was predeceased by a grandson David James Brownell, a sister Rose Linehan and a brother Frank Fenti.

 Per Telena’s request there will be no public calling hours, a private funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fremont.

 Memorial contributions in Telena’s name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, N.Y. 14823.
