Canisteo-Greenwood students announce finalists for new school mascot

The Steuben County school district that has been at the forefront of the new NYS mascot policy has announced that they are in the final stage of selecting a new school mascot. “C-G,” students have been voting from a list to determine a new school identity. The “Redskins” era is now part of school history.

After months of holding community forums and requesting community input, that final decision will rest with the current student body.
After narrowing down the field of eight potential new mascots, the student voters have spoken
Will it be the Red Dragons or the Chargers ?
Community reaction on social media seems to be evenly split between to the two. Many voice contempt for the decision to retire the former “Redskin” mascot.
