The Alfred Farmers Market celebrates opening day on Sunday, June 11th, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The market is located on the corner of Main Street and Saxon Drive.  Thanks to a grant from the Cullen Foundation, After Jack, a hot folk group from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains will be performing at the bandstand.

Kim Hannigan, Market Manager, listed the following vendors that will be at the market on opening day: The Bakery at Dwarf Hollow, Bread for All, Cook’s Clothing & Accessories, Designs by ScaryAnn, DK Designs, EIEIO Farms, Homestead on the Hill, Kellogg’s Alpacas, Light Fusion, Living Acres Farm, Living Cultures Farm, Mascho Homestead Farms, Mischief & Magic, The Purple Hippy, Scandinavirens, Whisper Hill Farm and Winey Shepherds.  The Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions and share information. The Activities Tent will be available for kids to make a craft.  Youth volunteers will be on hand to assist.

The Alfred Market meets Sundays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm through October 15th.  Holiday indoor markets will take place in November and December.  On August 27th, a soulful market is planned to feature the James Brown Experience.  The Renaissance Faire returns on September 17th.

Each Sunday music is provided at the bandstand. On June 18th, The Ukuladies, Amy Powers and Jami Snyder, will perform. On June 25th, Dave Mason, guitarist, and vocalist is scheduled.  For a full list of performers and to keep up with vendor highlights, check out the Alfred Farmers Market on Facebook.  If you are interested in becoming a vendor, the application can be found at alfredfarmersmarket.com.
