Sheriff Report: Animal cruelty, choking, and DWI

Animal Cruelty Arrest

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on June 10, 2023, deputies arrested Darrell J. Hoad, age 42, of Wolf Run Road, Campbell, New York, following the investigation of a report of an animal in distress in the Town of Campbell. It is alleged that Mr. Hoad failed to provide adequate food or care to a dog. Mr. Hoad was charged with Torturing/Not Feeding an Animal. The animal was taken to the Finger Lakes SPCA for treatment and care. Mr. Hoad was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

DWI Crash Arrest

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on June 10, 2023, deputies arrested a female age 55, of West High Street, Painted Post, New York, following the investigation of a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole and a fence in the Town of Erwin. It is alleged that she operated a vehicle while in an intoxicated condition on Addison Road, in the Town of Erwin, left the roadway and struck a pole, then continued and struck a fence. The woman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Operating with greater than .08% Blood Alcohol Content and Moving from Lane Unsafely. The accused was released on traffic summons to appear in Erwin Town Court at a later date.

Criminal Obstruction of Breathing Arrest

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on June 9, 2023, deputies arrested Roxy K. Buchanan, age 48, of Monterey-Sexton Hollow Road, Bradford, New York, following the investigation of a report of a domestic incident in Bradford. It is alleged that Ms. Buchanan choked a member of her family or household. Ms. Buchanan was charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing. Ms. Buchanan was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.
