Steuben County Sheriff makes arrest after wild car chase, Ithaca man faces multiple charges

Fleeing a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Stolen Property and Unlawful Imprisonment

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on June 29, 2023, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Massia M. White-Saunders, age 25, of West State Street, Ithaca, New York. It is alleged that Mr. White-Saunders possessed and operated a stolen vehicle, fled from police, operated the vehicle in a manner to create a serious risk to others, damaged property in excess of $1,500 in value and restrained another person in the vehicle exposing them to risk of serious injury in the Town of Campbell. Mr. White-Saunders was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Class D Felonies, Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, a Class E Felony and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree. Mr. White- Saunders was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and held without bail.

Sheriff Allard thanks the New York State Police, Village of Bath Police, Village of Dansville Police, Town of Cohocton Police and Village of Wayland Police Departments for their assistance in this arrest.
