Arkport man dies in Livingston County motorcycle crash

From the Livingston County Sheriff,

SPARTA – Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports a fatal motorcycle crash involving an Arkport resident.

On August 3rd, 2023 at approximately 7:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen that witnessed a motorcycle crash on Groveland Station Road near Hammond Road, with the operator still down.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that James E. Henry, age 38 from Arkport, was traveling northbound on Groveland Station Road when he slowed down and veered off the roadway striking a wire fence. Henry was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Handling the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Command Staff, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) and Drone Unit. Assisting with this investigation were the Dansville and Sparta Fire Departments, Dansville Ambulance and Livingston County EMS.

At this time the investigation is ongoing.
