Audrey L. Wood, 83, Wellsville

Audrey L. Wood, 83, of Wellsville, NY passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY.

Audrey was born in Mt. Jewett, PA on July 29, 1940. Growing up in McKean County, PA, she graduated from Kane High School.

On Christmas Day 1960, she and Eldred John Wood Jr. were married at the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church in the town of Woodhull, NY. John survives.

John was in the military at the time of their marriage. Audrey and John held residence in many places during their marriage including Texas. They eventually settled in John’s hometown of Wellsville in 1974. Audrey studied cosmetology after their move and has practiced hairdressing in her own shop at her home from 1976 until the time of her death.  She and John attended the Brookside Wesleyan Church in Wellsville. Audrey loved her church and her church family.

Surviving is her husband of 63 years, John Wood of Wellsville, her children, Mary Ellen Wood of Wellsville, Jacquie Wood of Nunapitchuk, AK, John (Becci) Wood of Norton Shores, MI, Dwight Wood of Chesapeake, VA, David Piraino of Topeka, KS, Frank (Brenda) Piraino of Topeka, KS and Paul (Chris) Piraino of Painted Post, her grandchildren, Brandy Leigh Wood, Rita Aguchak, Audrey Wood, Jackie Kokrine, Darryl Kokrine, Phoebe Wood, EJ (Mallory) Wood, Ariel (Nic) Guptill, Caleb (Alli) Wood, Micah Wood, Taylor Laudenslager, Jonnathon Wood, Dwight (Kristin) Piraino, Justin (Lauren) Piraino, Jessica (James) Kelly, Angela (Will) parker and Lauren (Tom) Towner, great grandchildren, Dre, Claire, Maverick, Kaylie, Jax, Cooper, Weston, Evelyn, Nathaniel, Levi and Reese, her sisters, Joyce Ogurchak of Las Vegas, NV and Sandy Salazar of Tucson, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ellen Dwight, and siblings, Richard (Grace) Dwight, Shirley (Bud) Carl and Henry Dwight.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 20 from noon to 1 pm at the Brookside Wesleyan Church, 3468 Andover Road, Wellsville. Funeral services will follow there at 1 pm. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
