Letter Carrier Dennis Rudenauer was delivering on his route in Hornell, NY, after having been off for a couple of days when he noticed a customer’s mailbox was unusually full.

He then detected a faint cry coming from inside the house.

Rudenauer was able to establish contact with the woman, who said that she had fallen a few days prior and wasn’t able to get up.

The postal employee called 911 and waited until emergency services arrived at the home to assist the woman.

She is recovering from the incident.

Employees featured in “Heroes’ Corner” also receive letters of commendation through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program. The nomination form is available on Blue.
