The Board of Public Safety unanimously approved appointments for Trevor Stiles and Matthew Hanrahan as Hornell Police Department’s newest provisional patrolmen at their August meeting.

Chief Ted Murray expressed his enthusiasm for the appointments, stating, “We are very happy to welcome Trevor and Matthew to our department. Both are currently enrolled in the police academy and come highly recommended following a thorough background process. We anticipate their valuable contributions to enhance and grow our department.”

Stiles and Hanrahan are both lifelong residents of the City of Hornell, and noted their excitement and appreciation in joining the Hornell Police Department. As they progress through the Alfred State College Police academy, they have completed the rigorous phase one and are poised to embark on the intensive 5-week program of phase two, in late August, before completing the academy this fall.

Mayor John Buckley voiced his optimism for the appointments, “The decision to bring aboard these two exceptional candidates comes after thorough resume evaluations, insightful interviews, and positive recommendations from their time at the academy. It’s a challenging time to recruit new officers, and we are fortunate to have these stellar candidates who wish to give back to their community.”
