“Great turnout” for the Democratic Party picnic at Veterans Memorial Park
By Andrew Harris
The leader of the Steuben County Democratic Party, former Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan and a large crowd at Veterans Memorial Park welcomed Tom DiNapoli to the Maple City.
The NYS Comptroller is one of the biggest jobs in the Empire State. The office is the first line of oversight local town and village governments and much more. The Comptroller oversees the NY State Pension Fund and the entire NYS payroll system. To put it very simple: They “dot the I’s and cross the T’s” for a massive segment of the NYS economy.
Tom DiNapoli has been elected to this office since 2007, and re-elected four times. In 2014’s general election he recieved more votes than anyone else on the ballot in New York State. He and his office have been described as Albany’s “steady hand,” as he served under former Governor’s Elliot Spitzer and Andrew Cuomo. Both NY Governors resigned in scandal, Napoli remained and remains popular.
Leader of the Steuben County Democratic party Shawn Hogan had this to say about the event, pictured above with DiNapoli and Pastor Hopkins:
“What a fantastic turnout for Steuben County Democratic Picnic! State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli , Pastor Barlow Hopkins, Rehoboth Church, Shawn D. Hogan, Chairman Democratic Party and hundreds of supporters marked the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Freedom.”
