LCAA’S FINEST

PAVILION – Riding the wave of momentum. Even during a bit of adversity.

Trailing 1-0 to host Pavilion/York Monday night, Geneseo received goals from Caleb Rice and Oren Ray to rally for the 2-1 victory in LCAA D-II action.

P/Y opened the scoring in the first half when Evan Kingdon scored off an assist from Kyan Tiede for the 1-0 advantage.

But Geneseo responded within a few minutes left in the first half when Rice tied the game off an assist from playmaker Sam Chanler.

With the score deadlocked at 1-1, and only a minute remaining, Adam Neidermaier took the free kick that found Kellen O’Brien who headed the ball to Ray, who in turn headed it off the post and into the net for the thrilling win.

The victory secured the LCAA Division II title, the first league crown for the Blue Devils since 2015.

Geneseo, who started the season 1-2, has gone 10-0-1 since Sept. 9 and improved to 11-2-1.

P/Y fell to 9-5-1.

Geneseo sits on top of the current Section V Class C2 standings.

“We have a great group of kids who are leaders on and off the field,” Geneseo coach Chris Masters said. “The best thing about them is how hard they work. They never quit and they always believe they can win. It is a lot of fun to watch.”
