KEUKA PARK, NY – The Alfred University women’s soccer team grabbed a 2-0 conference win over Keuka College on Wednesday evening from the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The Saxons (3-4-4, 1-0-3 Empire 8) have now held the Wolves (1-10-1, 1-5-0 Empire 8) scoreless in each of their last three matchups dating back to the 2019 season.

Alyssa Smith (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) recorded a goal from her lone shot. Abby Scanlan (Albion, NY/Charles D’Amico) scored once across a team-high 3 shots. Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) became the sixth goalkeeper in program history with 11 or more career shutouts for AU.

Both defenses played well to begin the opening half as neither side recorded a shot through the first 20 minutes of action. The Saxons attempted 6 shots, while holding the Wolves without a single shot attempt before going into the break with a scoreless draw. A free kick for Smith in the 65th minute reached the back of the net, as Alfred University got themselves on the scoreboard. Later in the half, Scanlan scored for the Saxons to extend the lead in the 82nd minute. Keuka was limited to just one shot from the last 15 minutes of play before the final horn went off to give AU the Empire 8 victory.

Alfred University will next return home to host Elmira College on Sunday at 4pm.
