DANSVILLE – Fourth-seeded Dansville shot out to a quick lead and never looked back as they defeated visiting No. 5 Penn Yan Academy 3-0 in Section V Class B quarterfinal action Saturday.
First-half goals by Megan Tyler and Aynsley Belcher gave the Lady Mustangs the 2-0 lead at the intermission.
The junior Tyler made it 3-0 in the second half off a header that was assisted by Emma Allen.
It was Tyler’s 11th goal of the season.
Senior keeper Emma Butters picked up her 11th shutout of the season with five saves.
“I am proud of the girls’ effort tonight,” Dansville coach Arin Belden said. “I thought it was one of the most complete and total team wins we’ve had this season against a very aggressive and physical Penn Yan team.”
Dansville, who has outscored opponents 55-14, also improved to 12-3-3 on the season as the Lady Mustangs will take on No. 1 Bath in the semis Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Penn Yan.
Bath has handed Dansville two of their three losses this season with the second one coming 2-1 just two weeks ago in Bath.
