Each year, St. Ann’s Academy hosts a Field of Honor for our local Veterans. This year, the field of flags is displayed in front of the former St. Ann’s School across from St. Ann’s Church on the corner of Elm St and Erie Ave.

The students in our PreK – 3rd grade classes have been busy learning their songs and interviewing the Honored Veterans for this years Ceremony. The entire school has learned four Veterans Day songs and this year will ask the audience to sing along on our Armed Forces Medley. Our students in our 1st -3rd grade classes helped to set up the Field of Honor.

We are honoring 4 Veterans this year: Harry DeLosh, USMC, A.J. Lehman, USAF, Peggy Broderick, US Army Reserves and Ron Higley, USMC.

One of the teachers at SAA, Patty Hopkins, lost her husband, Steven Hopkins, who passed away at sea while serving in the US Navy. Her son Alex, a SAA Alumni, will be reading about his father to honor his service as well. Most of the Ceremony will be conducted by the students of SAA.

Our featured speaker this year is Mayor John Buckley of Hornell. The Ceremony is always held on November 11th so we hope to see many people from the community come out this Saturday to join us for our Field of Honor Ceremony at 9:00 AM. We will have refreshments following.
