Give food to those in need, and the parking ticket goes away!!
Students will have the opportunity to keep the shelves at the food pantry stocked by participating in the Food for Fine Forgiveness program offered by University Police

The University Police Department (UPD) at Alfred State is giving thanks to students who are true on-campus partners with officers in keeping the campus a safe and tight-knit community. UPD is offering an innovative Food for Fine Forgiveness program to show their appreciation. UPD has teamed up with the Student Senate and Civic Leadership to help students eliminate one outstanding parking ticket while helping others.
The program initially started during the college’s Day of Giving has been extended for the rest of the semester to allow more participation and collect more food. Students can donate $10 worth of non-perishable, not expired food items in exchange for one parking ticket forgiveness. All donations will go to the on-campus food pantry located in the Community Needs Hub at Peet Hall.
“It is great to partner with Student Senate and Civic Leadership on this initiative as another way that University Police and students are all on the same team,” commented Police Chief Jeff Wilcox. “We are thankful for the partnership we have with our students and our community. Positive student involvement with our officers is crucial as we all work to keep our campus safe.”
Students can schedule a drop-off time with the civic leadership staff by emailing ThePlate@AlfredState.edu. In your email, please reference the Food for Fine Forgiveness program in the subject line. The staff will follow-up with the best time to either meet in the Community Needs Hub or the Civic Leadership suite.
Student Senate Executive Vice President Lily Holmes came up with the idea and is hopeful that students will take advantage of the program. “This program is a win for both a student that might have a parking ticket but also for the student that might need to use our services in the food pantry. I am proud to be part of this initiative and excited to fill up the shelves of the food pantry. Our officers do so much for us and I appreciate how they want to thank students for being good citizens.”
Students can have one previously issued ticket dismissed if they choose to participate.
