LCAA’S FINEST: Mount Morris girls basketball, indoor track both expected to have solid seasons

MOUNT MORRIS – Head coach John Koronas enters his fourth season with the Lady Blue Devils after finishing 8-14 a season ago.

Three returners are back including seniors Denishka Valentin (Forward), Angelica Caceres (Guard) and Shayla Brown (Center).

A few top newcomers include juniors Gabrielle Pagano (G/F), Shanies Brown (G), Morgan Luick (F) and Kendyll Driesbach (G).

“Looking forward to a good season,” Koronas said. “We should be quick offensively and defensively with a young team. We have an energetic, eager group of young ladies anxious to do their best on the court this season.”

INDOOR TRACK

Head coach Amanda James returns for her fifth season at M-M (8th overall) and is excited about this year’s roster which includes several multi-sport athletes.

Seniors Sarina Johnson (sprinter/mid-distance) and Adam Johnson (multi/hurdler) are both back and should excel in their final season.

Sarina has bosted outstanding times in the 600m (1:48.45) and 300m (46.21) while Adam has clocked in with an impressive 9.95 in the 55 hurdles.

Juniors Abby Provo (throws) and Matthew Bacon (sprints/jumps) are also expected to contribute plenty.

Provo has already tossed a weight 20’ 6” while Bacon has jumped 5-4 and has clocked in with a 40.96 time in the 300m.

A trio of top newcomers includes basketball standouts Mason Santini (jumps), a senior, and junior Anthony Hightower (sprints).

Sophomore Yasael Malave (mid-distance/distance) is also expected to contribute.
