Covid on the rise, RSV unknown, and light influenza
From Staff Reports,
Steuben County’s Public Health Director, Darlene Smith, has provided an update on the prevalent illnesses in the region. As of the latest information available, Steuben County is experiencing an average of approximately 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19 per day.
Regarding Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), specific numerical data is not presently available. This lack of data is due to the fact that reporting of RSV cases by medical professionals is not currently mandated.
In contrast, the incidence of influenza (flu) remains relatively low in Steuben County. For the week in review, the county recorded fewer than eight cases of the flu. This suggests that, while COVID-19 cases are still notable, the flu has had a lesser impact within the community during this period.
