The Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched on December 25th at 10:37pm for a reported fully involved structure fire at 7581 County Route 13 in the town of Bath. Bath Assistant Chief David Dowdle was the first officer on scene and confirmed the report of a working structure fire of a manufactured home and all residents were out of the building, as well as a fully involved vehicle fire.

A second alarm was called for mutual aid from the Bath VA, Avoca. Kanona, Hammondsport, Prattsburgh, Pulteney, Savona and Wayne. Savona stood by for Bath at Bath station and Wayne at the Hammondsport station. There was a propane tank close to the home which vented from the heat but did not rupture. NYSEG was called to disconnect the electric and Hometown Energy for the propane tank.

There were no injuries of civilians or firefighters. It was reported that the dogs barking woke the family and alerted them to the fire, and all were able to escape safely. A passerby saw the fire and stopped to make sure the family escaped the home. The Steuben County Fire Investigation Team was also called to the scene and are looking into the cause of the fire.
