Three new Steuben County Legislators are sworn into office

Swackhamer elected Majority Leader

BATH — Legislators Joe Tobia, Corning City; Shannon Logsdon, Wayland/Cohocton; and William Thew Avoca/Fremont/Howard/Wheeler took their oaths of office before the Honorable Philip Roche Tuesday before joining 14 legislators on the county board.

The three were elected to office during the Nov. 7 General Election.

In other official action Tuesday, county Legislator Kelly Fitzpatrick, R-Bath was elected the Legislature’s Chair and Legislator James Kuhl, R-Erwin was selected as its Vice-Chair.  Both have been elected for two-year terms.

County Legislator Gary Swackhamer, R-Hornell City was elected the board’s majority leader, while county Legislator Hilda Lando was chosen as its minority leader.
