Audrey Smith of Fillmore passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2024 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She was born on June 12, 1952 in Hornell, a daughter of the late Burton Howell and the late Ida Jane Hallett.  On August 5, 1988, she married Craig Smith who survives.

Audrey was a graduate of Friendship Central School, class of 1970.  She was a bus driver for Fillmore Central School for 36 years and was known for making lasting connections with the students that rode her bus.  She and Craig also ran “Just a Plane Bed and Breakfast” at their home in Fillmore for 25 years, where they made friendships with people from all over the country.

Audrey enjoyed taking care of the family home, sewing, quilting, and creating projects on her embroidery machine. She especially enjoyed her time with her embroidery club friends in Arcade.  Audrey will be remembered for the way she was always reaching out to help others by delivering a meal during a hard time, sending a card to lift someone up, calling to check on a friend, and countless other acts of kindness.  She had a way of making even simple things look and feel special.  Most of all, Audrey’s family was truly her pride and joy in life.
