James C. “Jim” Nosky – formerly of 2 Seventh St., Canisteo, died Saturday morning (May 11, 2024) at Elderwood at Hornell Nursing Facility where he had resided for the past 7 months.

Born in Buffalo, NY he was the son of Edward & Bernice (Connolly) Nosky.

Jim grew up in Cheektowaga and was a graduate of the Seminary of the Little Flower &

St. Joseph (class of 1953).  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in English from Canisius College and later received his Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on English from Alfred University.

For 32 years, Jim served as an English teacher at Jasper Central School, retiring in 1991.  He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.

Jim was married on August 13, 1959 to the former Josephine Nasca who died November 1, 2018.  He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald Nosky and Leslie McMullen; 3 sisters, Dolores Ulrich, Jeanne Joachimi and Bernice Kelly; his son, Robert Conlan.

Surviving are his son, Dominic Conlan; his brother, Robert (Carol) Nosky of Oswego; his brother-in-law, Robert Kelly of Kenmore; many nieces & nephews.

At Jim’s request there will be no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Jim’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 North Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL  33607 or to Canisius College, 2001 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14208-1517.
