Elmira based manufactuaring business has dozens of employees
From the Office of Congressman Nick Langworthy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm, calling on the Biden Administration to take seriously the potential closure of the Hardinge Inc. Super-Precision Unit in Elmira, New York. This unit plays a vital role in the local economy, national security projects and our domestic supply chains.
“Hardinge is essential to the success of Elmira’s economy, providing high-quality jobs and contributing to our community’s stability and growth,” said Congressman Langworthy. “The potential closure of its Super-Precision Unit would not only impact local employment but also disrupt critical projects for the Department of Energy that are essential to our national security.”
In the letter, Congressman Langworthy highlighted the significant consequences of the closure:
“The closure of this unit will lead to the loss of more than fifty, skilled trade and manufacturing jobs focused on the production of cutting-edge, highly technical equipment and technology,” he continued. “It is imperative that the DOE works with Hardinge to navigate these challenges and maintain the critical equipment and expertise supplied by the Super-Precision Unit.”
