Then, Deputy Draper, was quickly assigned to the STOP DWI Unit where he patrolled the roadways of Livingston County focusing on impaired driving enforcement, for which these efforts later earned him an award for NYS Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

In the year 2000, Deputy Draper became a member of the SWAT Team, where he received extensive training in special weapons and tactics, and remained a dedicated team member for 10 years.

In 2003, Deputy Draper also joined the Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and became certified with his K9 partner, Tyson, working together as a dedicated team until Tyson’s retirement in 2012.

In 2004, Deputy Draper became certified as a Drug Recognition Expert, following extensive training in the area of recognizing individuals under the influence of drugs.

In 2006, Deputy Draper’s hard work and dedication was recognized and he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, assigned to shift supervision.

In 2009, Sergeant Draper accepted an opportunity to oversee the Civil Division, where he remained until 2012, at which point he returned to the Patrol Division as a day shift supervisor.

In 2016, Sergeant Draper returned to the K9 unit as a handler and also attended Instructor Development School, additionally obtaining recommendation letters from three different Master K9 Trainers, each attesting to the exceptional abilities and experience held by Sgt. Draper. In 2016, Sgt. Draper became certified by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services as a K9 trainer in the areas of Patrol, Tracking, Narcotics and Nitrate Detections, which granted him the authority to conduct maintenance training for all of the LCSO K9 teams, providing the K9 Unit an opportunity to train in-house. In 2017, Sgt. Draper teamed up with his current partner, K9 Hutch, and the two have been working together since.

We would like to thank Sergeant Draper for all of his hard work and dedication to not only the men and women of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office but also to the residents of Livingston County. We wish all the best to you and your family in your retirement!
