HORNELL – Doranne E. Roberts, 64, formerly of Andover, passed away on Thursday (August 1, 2024) at UR Medicine St. James Hospital in Hornell.
Doranne was born on May 2, 1960 in Hornell to William S. and Patricia E. (Lynch) Wahl. She was a 1979 graduate of Andover Central School.
Doranne is survived by three brothers, Timothy (Nelly) Wahl of Glendale, Calif., Christopher Wahl and Jude (Cynthia) Wahl, both of Andover; one brother-in-law, Wayne Harder of Wellsville; three dear friends, Cynthia Dempsey, Debbie Brown and Cheryl Stout; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, William Wahl and Patrick Wahl and one sister, Marie Harder.
Doranne loved animals, especially cats and dogs. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. People who knew her describes her as fun loving, kind and caring. Doranne was willing to do anything for anybody. Her brother Jude remembers big sister as almost a second mother, helping him with all his appointments and being that greatly needed influence in his life when he needed it.
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday (August 7) from 1-3 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Fr. Jeffrey Donovan of Blessed Sacrament Church officiating. There will be a graveside service on Saturday (August 17) at 5:00 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover where her ashes will be laid to rest beside her parents.
