Game starts tonight, October 26 at 730pm
From Hornell High School Atheltics,
Coach Mehr is ready to live that little dream of a high school football coach: Bringing the team to play in a college stadium under the bright lights on a Saturday night.
He gives a preview of the game with some history and thanks to DWC coach Chad Peri for making it happen:
“The Hornell Dansville games were always special going back to the late 80’s, often being the season opener game. As the Livingston County League grew we picked up Wayland-Cohocton as another local team on our schedule. As times have changed and schools realign their sports programs, Dansville/Wayland-Cohocton is a combined program competing in Class B. With the changes in schedules and classifications we haven’t played each other in some years now.
We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring back some of the old by playing DWC tonight in what is being called the Battle of Route 36. Coach Chad Peri of DWC was instrumental in coordinating the game be a showcase season finale at Alfred University under the lights. It will be an electric atmosphere as we get to honor our seniors and play our last game at Alfred University.
We are committed to giving back all proceeds from ticket and shirt sales to support Goliisano Children’s Hospital. Both communities and football programs have benefited from the Childrens Hospital and both myself and each Peri really felt strongly about giving back and as programs instilling these values in our student athletes.
We thank Alfred University for their hospitality.”
The battle will also be to help the Golisano Children’s Hospital with their critical mission by donating proceeds from the gate and T-shirt sales as seen below.
