Honoring Veterans: November Events Across Steuben County

From Steuben County, Operation Green Light is underway

November 8th, 2024 – Throughout November, Steuben County communities are coming together to celebrate and honor the service of our veterans. Local businesses, organizations, and community centers have joined forces to host a series of events that highlight the contributions of veterans and provide them with opportunities to connect, network, and enjoy exclusive benefits. From social gatherings and community luncheons to special events and workshops, there is something planned for every veteran.

Veterans One-Stop Center Pizza Social

Date: Wednesday, November 15, 2024

Time: 5:00 p.m.

Location: Rico’s Pizza, 371 West Morris Street, Bath, NY

The Veterans One-Stop Center invites veterans to a pizza social at Rico’s Pizza in Bath. Veterans are encouraged to bring a guest and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and support. This informal gathering provides a great opportunity to connect with other veterans and learn about resources available in the area.

Free Admission & Glassmaking for Veterans at the Corning Museum of Glass

Date: November 1 – 30, 2024

Location: Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY

The Corning Museum of Glass is offering free admission for veterans throughout November. Veterans are welcome to bring a guest, who will receive a 15% discount on admission. In addition, on November 9th and 10th, the museum is hosting a free glassmaking experience exclusively for veterans. This one-hour session allows participants to create their own glass pieces and provides a unique hands-on experience.

Haircut Social at Garcia’s Barber Shop

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: Garcia’s Barber Shop, 21 Seneca Street, Hornell, NY

Garcia’s Barber Shop in Hornell is hosting a Haircut Social, providing free haircuts for veterans. This event offers veterans a chance to unwind and receive a complimentary grooming service as a gesture of appreciation for their service.

Friendsgiving Celebration at Racalto’s

Date: Thursday, November 23, 2024

Location: Racalto’s, Hornell, NY

The Veterans One-Stop Center invites veterans and their guests to a Friendsgiving celebration at Racalto’s in Hornell. This festive gathering offers a warm meal and a welcoming atmosphere to celebrate gratitude and fellowship among veterans and their families.

Veterans’ Lunch at JC Café – Hornell, NY

Join us for a special lunch to honor our veterans!

Come together, enjoy a meal, and connect with fellow veterans in our community.

Online WebEx – A talk from a medal of honor recipient (Sgt. Allen Lynch)
