The Bath Rotary Club raised funds to provide beautiful hanging flower baskets and barrels along Liberty Street in downtown Bath

The Bath Rotary Club raised funds for the hanging flower baskets on Liberty Street in downtown Bath by participating in the twenty-four hour FLX Gives 2024 campaign.  Community members, Rotarians themselves, and relatives and/or friends of Rotarians pledged online donations for the cause from 6:00 p.m. on November 14th to 6:00 p.m. on November 15th

The fundraiser, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Corning and the Southern Finger Lakes, provides critical funds to the nonprofit sector of the area, allowing it to respond to the needs of the community.

Through various fundraisers the Bath Rotary Club has been paying for the hanging baskets and flowers on Liberty Street for over ten years.  This year it decided to participate in the FLX Gives 2024 campaign in order to gain community support for this project.  It set as its goal $2000.00 and was pleased to raise $2,251.00 from thirty-eight donors who pledged a total of ninety-one gifts.

In addition to providing twenty-five hanging baskets and eight barrels of flowers in the downtown area of Bath, the local club has also been in charge of watering the flowers in the past.  However, this year the Village of Bath Street Department has been gracious enough to water the flowers Monday through Friday while Bath Rotarians do the watering on Saturday and Sunday.  The street department crew also helps the local Rotarians put up and take down the baskets.  The club is most appreciative of the crew’s assistance.

“The flower baskets and barrels really help to make the Village of Bath look nice.  They indeed beautify our village as we try to attract more businesses and tourism to our community,” stated Tess McKinley, Bath Rotarian in charge of the club’s participation in the FLX Gives 2024 campaign.  “We thank all who made donations; your gifts will indeed make a difference.”
