PS Bruckel Inc. cites a rise in costs for decision to pull project
By Andrew Harris
Social media has been swirling with unconfirmed reports that the potential Quicklee’s and Tim Horton project will not happen. While the rumors of environmental issues or NYS Department of Transportation hurdles are not accurate, we have confirmed that the project is indeed “cancelled.”
The developer, PS Bruckel Inc., based in Avon NY answered our inquiry email with this statement:
“The project has been cancelled due to the financial burden that a substantial increase in construction costs. The original plan costs were made pre-COVID. The costs for material and labor increased significantly post-COVID.”
Town of Wellsville Supervisor Shad Alsworth reacted to the statement:
“It is unfortunate that the project is no longer moving forward. Hopefully another business may be interested in the space.”
That property, owned by a private real estate firm, was the former location of “Bo-Ge” manufactuaring and is now a vacant lot. A new drive-thru style Walgreens is now fully operational on the east side of the proposed project.
Naturally the Wellsville community will be disappointed. One of our readers, Chadwick Szymkowiak, has faithfully asked for updates on this project. He reacted to the news,
“That is too bad. Wellsville could sure use an alternate to Dunkin and the Quicklee’s would have been a great addition to that shopping area and brought more people to that part of town.”
