GALLERY: Corner lot home is now up for public bidding
From the City of Hornell,
The 12th brand-new home, constructed through the successful partnership between the City of Hornell and GST BOCES, has been completed and is currently out for bid. The home is located on the corner of Upper Bennett and Lincoln Streets, offering beautiful views of the City along with modern features.
This approximately 1,500-square-foot, single-story, three-bedroom house sits on a completed but unfinished basement. The home was designed by Assistant Public Works Superintendent Ashley Brown, who explained, “This home features two full bathrooms, on-demand hot water, and forced air heating and cooling.” Brown continued, “It also includes walk-out basement access from the ground level, and a front porch showcasing scenic views of the City of Hornell and the Canisteo Valley.”
Bids for the home will start at $192,000, with bid sheets available through the City Clerk’s office. The bid period is currently open and will close on January 30, 2025, when all bids will be read aloud at 2:00pm. Showings can be requested and additional information provided by calling the Public Works Office at 607-324-7421 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Mayor John Buckley highlighted the successful partnership with GST BOCES, saying, “With the great need for new, single-family homes in Hornell, this partnership has been a tremendous success. It provides Building Trades students led by Rob Lemay with valuable hands-on experience, while bringing modern homes with updated features and amenities to our community at an affordable price. I’d like to thank Assistant Public Works Superintendent Ashley Brown for her thoughtful design work, the DPW staff for their support, and Rob Lemay and the students for their hard work in making this project a reality. This is truly a team effort that benefits everyone.”
This successful partnership continues, as work progresses on the 13th home, which is currently being built on-site on Madison Avenue.
