“One of my top priorities as alderwoman is improving quality of life—not just for the 6th Ward, but for the entire Hornell community”
From Lita Brown for 6th Ward Alderwoman,
I am excited to announce that I am seeking another term as Alderwoman for the 6th Ward on the City of Hornell Common Council. Serving the residents of the 6th Ward has been a fantastic experience, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for our community. Working, living, and raising my family in the 6th Ward has given me a deep understanding of the needs of our ward and our community.
I currently serve on the Quality of Life/HAT Commission, Planning and Development, and Youth and Recreation committees, and it has been an exceptionally rewarding experience. One of my top priorities as alderwoman is improving quality of life—not just for the 6th Ward, but for the entire Hornell community. During my time on the Council, we have seen the completion of Union Square Park, which has become a central gathering space for downtown events. Veterans Memorial Park has also undergone major upgrades, including the addition of a splash pad and repairs to the locker rooms and pool house. Residents will continue to see park improvements, as the City was recently awarded $500,000 to improve and expand the skate park at Shawmut.
In addition to park investments, we have strengthened public services with five additional police vehicles, three new ambulances, a new fire truck, authorization to fund six new HAT buses, and a substantial investment in equipment for the DPW utilizing ARPA funds. These all improve quality of life for residents within the city.
I take great pride in being an active listener and a natural helper. I pledge to continue connecting residents with the appropriate city departments, working to resolve concerns, and striving to improve quality of life. I will also continue collaborating with my fellow council members and city officials to address residents’ concerns and improve our community.
On November 4, 2025, I ask for your support and your vote to continue serving as your Alderwoman.
Lita Brown (R)
Alderwoman, 6th Ward
