At its February monthly meeting the Canisteo Village Board engaged in mostly routine business.
During the brief meeting the board regretfully approved the retirement of DPW worker Bradley Davis. Mayor Monica Recktenwald expressed gratitude to Mr. Davis who was present. In other action the board:
-approved appointment of Republicans Nancy Potter and Tina Marts, and Democrats Rosemary Kneale and Linda O’Rourke as election inspectors for the March 18 village elections.
– authorized $69,442 for purchase of a 2025 Ford Explorer marked patrol vehicle. The purchase cost is entirely covered by two grants.
-approved the contract for Deputy Clerk- Treasurer Melissa Weakland.
During the status report section of the meeting, Mayor Recktenwald noted that action on generator delivery to the village through FEMA grants is on hold due to the funding freeze authorized by President Trump.
Public comment from the 20 residents present brought forth only one question, and none dealing with the current New York State Police investigation of village police chief Kyle Amidon, currently on administrative leave.
Village residents are reminded of the budget workshop set for Thursday , February 13 at 6 PM.
