In response to recent federal workforce cuts by the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has extended an open invitation to displaced federal employees, encouraging them to pursue careers in the state government.
Emphasizing New York’s commitment to public service, Governor Hochul announced thousands of job openings across various sectors, including public safety, education, health care, and transportation.
“The so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) may be saying, ‘You’re fired’ – but here in New York State, we’re saying, ‘You’re hired!'” Governor Hochul declared. “I know the skills, dedication, and experience that federal employees bring to public service – and we value those qualities in our state workforce.”
The governor recently met with some of the workers who were abruptly dismissed from their federal positions. She expressed her commitment to advocating for these individuals and providing them with new opportunities within New York State.
“We’re fighting for people like them,” Hochul affirmed. “We have thousands of open positions, and these jobs are open to EVERYONE – not just federal employees.”
The hiring initiative aims to fill critical roles that directly impact the lives of New Yorkers. Interested candidates, including both displaced federal workers and other job seekers, are encouraged to explore available positions by visiting ny.gov/wewantyou.
“If you’re a federal employee looking for a new opportunity, know someone who is, or are a New Yorker interested in public service, we want you on our team,” Hochul emphasized.
