Free concert starts at 7pm on May 23

From Christ Episcopal Church,

HORNELL – Singer-songwriter Andy Squyres will perform Friday, May 23 in Christ Episcopal Church, Hornell, offering a delightful acoustic evening of songs and stories beginning at 7pm. Squyres will be joined by Eli and Hannah Denecke of Andover. The event is free and includes a reception after the concert to meet and greet the performers.

Christ church is located at 6 Center St., Hornell. Free parking is available across the street from the church.

The concert will last about two hours and is appropriate for all age.

Squyres was born and raised in the mountains of Northern California and moved east in the late 1900s, settling in the Appalachian area of North Carolina.  He has spent the last few decades carving songs out of the foothills of his North Carolina home, influenced by the poetics of Leonard Cohen and the lyrical traditon of artists such as Bob Dylan. The National, and John Mark McMillan.

His performances are a mixture of joyful protest, weaving together songs and tales of heartbreak and hope, making audiences laugh, and sometimes cry.
