Mayor John Buckley of the City of Hornell has been appointed as Co-Chair of the Employee Relations and Public Safety Policy Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM). He has served on this committee since 2020.
As co-chair of the Employee Relations and Public Safety Policy Committee, Mayor Buckley will be directly involved in providing policy recommendations to the NYCOM Executive Committee, of which he is also a member. Mayor Buckley will help facilitate the development of positions on various pieces of legislation and consider new legislative proposals that will benefit cities and villages. This committee works on issues related to including collective bargaining, civil service, public safety, health insurance and ethics.
There are 16 other members of this committee from cities and villages across the State who bring valuable insights from their local leadership experiences. Together, they drive critical conversations and shape the municipal advocacy agenda on employee relations and public safety. All members share a strong commitment to promoting workforce development among municipal employees and ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities they serve.
Mayor Buckley’s leadership and experience will be a key asset to his role as co-chair as NYCOM continues to advocate for legislation that supports municipal government.
