A State of Emergency was declared in Allegany County starting at 9 p.m. on Friday night.

From Staff Reporting,

Today, the entrance to Interstate 86 in Friendship is flooded.

This State of Emergency has been declared due to widespread and hazardous flooding and deteriorating road conditions.

Allegany County Legislative Chairman W. Brooke Harris said the worst areas were in the towns of Cuba and West Almond where he issued a temporary travel ban and he issued a travel advisory in the towns of Almond, Friendship, New Hudson, and Rushford. As soon as travel is deemed to be safe, these orders will be rescinded immediately.

Harris said for the remainder of the County, please check your routes and monitor weather conditions and forecasts prior to travel.

A Travel Ban means the roads are officially closed. Only emergency travel is allowed (police, ambulance, fire, doctors, nurses, etc.). Non-emergency travelers may be cited for a violation of law when traveling during a travel ban.
